Hide CaptionShow CaptionThis family needs a space that's versatile enough to host class and recess.
Calling the Gill Family kids well rounded is an understatement — from dancing to playing music to drawing, this trio's in constant motion. They're also homeschooled, so Mom (Shayla) and Dad (Rob) teach class in the kitchen. But big bro Nasiru (8 years old) and litte sisters Leilani (5 years old) and Yaminah (2 years old) find the fridge a distraction. The solution: Mom and Dad are willing to transform their living and dining room into a space versatile enough to host class and recess.

Designer Keisha Gilchrist will rearrange the furniture for more space and add a reading nook. The kids want to move their classroom from the kitchen to the living room, and they have some unusual requests, like a bulldozer, places to flip and anything African.
