Although the former Disney illustrator and art school grad spends up to five hours painting a masterpiece for each of his Color Splash projects, “anyone can paint a canvas that’s just a flat color with a simple stripe on it,” David says. “You can add glitter or Swarovski crystals — whatever’s your pleasure!”

Cheap Trick: Curtains

David relies on floor-to-ceiling curtains to dress up his rooms again and again. But even luxe-looking drapes don’t have to be pricey. “You can get a polyester dress sheer for $3 per yard, while a drapery sheer is around $15,” says David. “Dress sheers also hang really beautifully and diffuse the light so much better than heavier fabrics.”
