Tamara Schafhauser is really a nuts-and-bolts kind of crafter. In her workshop in Woodbury, Minn., she uses drills and acid baths to turn ordinary hardware into fashionable jewelry.

Materials:

leather cuff with strap to weave through*
antique filigree piece
crystal and jewelry finding cap
several brads
brad or hole punch for leather
jewelry adhesive

* Made for the artist by a leathersmith.

Steps:

1. Remove strap half way from leather wrist band and punch several holes to align with filigree openings. You may have to drill a hole if there is not one in the piece.

2. Once main filigree is attached, you can apply you jewelry findings and stone with the jewelry adhesive.

3. Replace the strap through the wrist piece and allow to dry overnight.
