Aaron and Darcy, their two children, and Darcy's mom, Hiroko, all live in a quaint North Carolina home. Although the home seems crowded at times, the kitchen is especially cramped and out of date to boot. With their busy schedules, Aaron and Darcy plan to renovate the kitchen over Spring Break. That means they have one week to gut the entire kitchen and add new walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, countertops, electrical outlets and appliances. While Hiroko watches the kids, Aaron and Darcy run into all sorts of issues in their kitchen overhaul, from delays in getting the cabinets to drywall disasters. Then, the discovery of a huge electrical problem proves to be both a curse and a blessing.
