Ready for some good news? The word's out. Nathan Morris, Grammy winner and founding member of nineties R&B supergroup Boyz II Men, has a brand new gig. He made the big announcement on Instagram. "I'm happy to finally announce the airing of my new four-part series Hit Properties with Nathan Morris on DIY Network," he said. "I'm excited about this project. It's one of the biggest I've undertaken."

The response has been swift and overwhelmingly positive. One fan on Insta replied almost immediately: "Congratulations!!! But did you really need to give us another reason to luv you?"

Mr. Morris joins the likes of other pop-culture mainstays like Daryl Hall, Vanilla Ice and (most recently) auto-racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., who have taken a sidestep from their primary vocation (or as Dale Jr. described it, his "day job") into the realm of renovating, restoring and/or flipping homes and properties – all the while letting DIY's cameras follow along. Think of it as a second act of sorts – a way for celebs known within one particular sphere to break out, innovate and expand horizons. And DIY Network, it would seem, is perfectly positioned as a backdrop for these kinds of crossover endeavors.

The new series, premiering on Oct. 6, follows Nathan and his crew as they transform a sadly neglected 8200-square-foot mansion in Orlando, Florida into an upscale and lavish estate. In order to boost the home's potential sticker price into the multimillion dollar range and entice high-end buyers, Nathan adds a host of luxe amenities including a gourmet kitchen, two opulent master suites, a resort-worthy pool and a variety of smart-home technology. The end goal is to create one serious show-stopper of a home, and one with a lot of sparkle.

A Long Way from the 'End of the Road'

Music fans may know that, with their hit "End of the Road," Boyz II Men managed to break the record previously held by one Elvis Presley – having a hit in the top slot of Billboard's Hot 100 for thirteen straight weeks. (They then proceeded, by the way, to do the exact same thing twice more with subsequent releases.) But fans might be surprised to learn that, aside from being an international music megastar, Nathan also has some hands-on remodeling experience under his belt. "On the business side, I’ve invested in some lucrative real estate deals," says Nathan, "and on the personal side, I’ve done some construction, renovating and designing. But I’ve never brought the two together in one project. This is my chance to do that — on a massive scale.”

Of course, as often happens with ambitious home renovations – and perhaps disproportionately so in south and central Florida – there will be challenges to contend with. Count among those a category 2 hurricane and some native wildlife that tends to keep devouring fresh landscaping. Be assured that Nathan and crew will meet those and other challenges with style, high energy and some truly hilarious moments.
