In 1985, Kirk and Susan Kennedy bought their one-story, 1,800-square-foot home from Susans parents. Since then, they have added-on five times so their once small ranch home is now an over 5,000-square-foot, contemporary beauty. They are especially proud of their master suite, but they have not been able to decide how to decorate the space to make it elegant and practical at the same time. With a budget of $25,000, the Kennedys would like to add warmth and color to it with paint, artwork, linens and window treatments. They would like to make the office and TV areas more functional and attractive and ultimately want the entire space to be a wonderful retreat.
Kaci and John Bathurst and their son, Kai, moved into their three-story oceanside home a little over a year ago. Although their house has a picture-perfect view of the Pacific Ocean, the couple believes they need to focus on the interior now. Their main concern is the family room that needs to mirror their lifestyle, while leaving the beach at the beach. But how do you streamline a family room so it wont cramp a couples laid-back lifestyle or interfere with their fabulous ocean view? Those are the challenges three interior designers will try to answer.
