Striking Home With Energy-Efficient Design

This striking home was created for Tim Brown and his family. A large focus was placed on making the home as energy efficient as it is aesthetically pleasing. The placement on the site was key in keeping it a low-energy-use home. With lots of cross ventilation and clerestory windows to vent heat, the home's energy bills are half the amount of a typical home in this area. A rainwater collection system was also incorporated to catch 100 percent of the home's potable water.

Home on Site With Minimal Landscaping

This relaxed home feels secluded with miles of surrounding land. Landscaping is kept to a minimum with shrubs and ornamental grasses to allow the energy-efficient home to be the main focal point.

Country-Style Staircase

A horizontally paneled accent wall mimics the design of this country-style staircase. Dark wood treads add beautiful contrast to the space, and a narrow hallway with polished concrete floors leads to the guest bathroom.
