Landscape Studio Project: Create a Dazzling Outdoor Space

Who wants an ordinary swimming pool when you can combine it with an outdoor living room that includes a covered dining area, garden paths and a fireplace design that is an architectural marvel and showstopper? Landscape Studio of Atlanta shows you how it's done, step by step.

Step 1: Make a Pool

The depth is established, the ground is dug, and the workers begin building the foundation frame for this Atlanta pool.

Step 2: Pour Some Concrete

Once the support foundation for the pool and upper patio are complete, the concrete is poured and the Landscape Studio Group design begins to take shape.

Step 3: Play With a Full Deck

With the pool established, the workers level off the ground around the pool for decking and construct an outer support wall that comes up to the pool height level.

Step 4: Caution! Patio in Progress

The upper patio deck and entranceway to the pool from the house is constructed, providing easy access to the new backyard.

Step 5: A Level Playing Field

The sloping backyard was corrected by building up the eight foot drop off to the same height as the pool.

Step 6: Not Your Typical Fireplace

The surrounding pool wall serves to make the space more intimate but also provides the support needed for the addition of a pool length fireplace.

The After: Step Down to Luxury

Now that the patio and pool are complete it's easy to see how the sleek design accents the multi-level surface and water features.

Let There Be Fire

And now for the piece de resistance: a wall of fire! You'll never think the same about swimming pools again.

Off the Deep End Beauty

At the edge of the enclosed pool area is a covered patio for casual dining and entertaining flanked by a smaller spa pool and ornamental plantings.

Panel Discussion

This view of the pool area from outside the yard shows how an intimate and private space was created through the use of translucent plexiglass panels and landscaping.

New View Review

Inside the house offers another perspective on the upper patio, the fire and water combo and the outdoor living area.
