The great room boasts a traditional design approach with modern elements. Throughout the space, "we were trying to span a whole range of people to feel comfortable," explains interior designer Linda Woodrum.

A duo of blue rafia chests adorned with decorative nailhead trim and studding sit on either side of the fireplace.

White-painted brick surrounds the gas fireplace, providing a traditional centerpiece with a magnificent modern twist.

The contemporary mantel blends seamlessly with the brick, creating a sculptural focal point.

The eye-catching piece of art on the mantel "adds just enough wow," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. It's abstract with a nod to rural life around Nashville.

A duo of iron light fixtures adds symmetry on either side of the fireplace.

Soaring ceilings outfitted in white beadboard paired with oversized windows offer charming visual elements that anchor the grand great room.

Rustic in style, this grand iron chandelier features 29 light bulbs and makes a sophisticated statement in this large space.

Fully lined drapes featuring an ikat pattern ensconce the great room. When the window treatments are open during the day natural light fills the room, and when closed in the evening, the drapes allow plenty of privacy.

The slope in the ceiling echoes the sloped roof line on the front porch commonly seen in Tudor-style homes.

A collection of antiqued glass votives, displayed on a metal side table, are among the thoughtful details that add a modern touch.

A classic square ottoman, outfitted in a heavy-duty material, adds interest and function. The furnishing doubles as a coffee table or extra seating.

Double-hung windows fill the living room with natural light, reducing any need to turn on lights during the day.

Engineered hardwood flooring adds warmth and style to the space, without sacrificing function in a high-traffic area.

Classic coffee table accessories include a sleek mirrored tray with a clear vase filled with pebbles and flowers, and a lantern with a flameless candle.

A bold blue-and-white area rug continues the sophisticated color scheme.

The console behind the couch "was one piece that's funky and rustic, and was used to mix it up," explains interior designer Linda Woodrum.

Cozy and conversational, this furniture arrangement takes advantage of the crackling fireplace and provides the perfect layout for lounging.

A traditional back door provides access to the backyard and deck without obstructing the view.

The kitchen and foyer are easily accessible from the great room, creating an open floor plan ideal for entertaining.

A flat-screen TV is mounted to the wall and can move to different vantage points in the room via the home's smart tablet.

Blue furnishings were chosen to seamlessly match the color palette in the kitchen.

"I love the pillows in a bold, crazy print," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. "You wouldn't think they belong, but it's a fun mix of blue and white."

"We used oversized lamps on the blue chest, and tried to hold back on the accessories to keep the space clean," explains interior designer Linda Woodrum.

The home-control system allows the homeowner to open and close the curtains at the touch of a button.
