HGTV Smart Home 2020 Winner Announcement

Meet the lucky winner of HGTV Smart Home 2020 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Congratulations to Jyll Doubleday of Santa Barbara, CA; she is the winner of the HGTV® Smart Home 2020 sweepstakes, a grand prize package valued at over $1.5 million dollars.

“I was just dumbfounded! It’s still really hard for me to wrap my head around it,” exclaimed Jyll. She expressed her motivation to continue to enter, despite her husband’s skepticism about the chances of winning. “Somebody has to win, and it might as well be me!”

Almost every night before bed Jyll faithfully filled out the two entry forms. Her diligence paid off; Jyll’s name was randomly drawn from over 103 million entries to the sweepstakes.

The HGTV ambush crew worked behind the scenes with Jyll's close friend Julie to break the exciting news via a virtual ambush with Tiffany Brooks. “I thought I was going to celebrate her daughter getting a scholarship,” Jyll explained. “When she said you won the house, my mouth just dropped”

Jyll lives with her husband, teenage son and daughter, and goldendoodle. Her family loves the tech aspects of the home, but Jyll is focused on the beauty of it. She is particularly fond of the stonework of the home, as well as the artwork and the communal spaces.

When asked how long she has been entering HGTV’s home giveaways, Jyll said “I've entered religiously for every single house.” She even encourages all of her friends to enter with hopes that one day they could all have getaway.

Jyll admires the love and attention that went into the craftsmanship. "The 250-square-foot, walk-in closet is crazy," she said.
