Evergreen foliage such as bay and conifer will last well and look fresher for longer than some other seasonal varieties, but choose whatever you have available in the yard, or can buy, to make the best-looking table display.
- deep, fluted baking dish
- 1 large candle
- small bunches of evergreen foliage, such as bay and conifer
- thin garden wire
- a few pine cones
Place the baking dish on a flat, level surface. Use a dish with a fixed, rather than a removable, base, so that water won't leak out of it.
Position the candle in the center of the dish. If you wish, you can stick the candle into place, but use a waterproof glue to do this.
Cut the conifer foliage into small bundles using shears. Tie wire around each bundle and place them in the dish around the candle.
