This magical home is nestled on a 2 ½-acre property on the west coast of Whidbey Island in Washington. The design aspirations were to create a low-maintenance, one-story home that felt intimate and could withstand the harsh conditions of the Pacific Northwest.

The palette is inspired by the landscape, warm earth tones with pops of blue and green to echo the water. In the living room, a high, vaulted ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors open up the space to enchanting Puget Sound views.

The interiors feel cozy and intimate, and also wonderfully connected to the outdoors. In the living room, an open concept layout includes easy access to—and views—of a picturesque porch.

Part of the challenge of the house was to bring warmth into the spaces while maintaining their minimal character. Here, in the kitchen and dining area, wood floors and cabinets balance out the airiness of the big, open layout.
