The design in the living room was kept elegant and simple so as to complement the large space, rather than compete with it. Large sliding glass doors allow in plenty of natural light, while the bookshelves add elegant display spaces. To complement the light walls, designers created a custom patina to paint onto the floor rather than staining it.

To create a kids' nook that complements the living room design, modern chairs with durable, ribbed fabric were brought in along with a modern coffee table and an easily accessible library of kids' books.

To give new life to a dated, white-washed bookcase, designers painted the new installation with a multi-step, high gloss lacquer paint.

To give the bookcase a bit more of a modern feel, designers decided to turn the books around. Designers staged the bookcases to make the accent piece look more put together for a clean, uncluttered look.
