David’s name was chosen from more than 127 million entries for the HGTV® Dream Home Giveaway 2016. Our lucky winner and his wife Margaret were in disbelief when host Tiffany Brooks and the HGTV production crew ambushed them at their hometown church.

David is the lucky winner of a coastal retreat located in Merritt Island, Florida, a 2016 GMC Acadia Denali®, $250,000 cash prize provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans, and a beautiful new boat. A grand prize valued at over $1.5 million!

An avid fan of HGTV, David has been following all of the HGTV home giveaways for many years. "I entered the giveaway regularly. In fact, my wife would give me grief for entering, and we were both sure nothing like this would happen to us,” he says.

David says he's watched the building of the home and viewed the photos online, but they can’t wait to see it in person. His wife is especially looking forward to spending some time on the dock on the river.

David  is a proud father of two daughters and former Boy Scouts of America employee. After being diagnosed with  ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease), David received a kidney transplant in March 2015. "I thought I won the lottery with the kidney. That was life changing, but so is this. It’s incredible. We just never thought it could get any better."
