Before: Front Yard
After: Front Yard
A curved walkway with simple paver system connects the home's asphalt driveway to the front porch. A side entry to the home off the driveway, part of a new addition, offers easy access to a mudroom, laundry room and powder room inside.
Curb Appeal
Before: Front Porch
After: Front Porch
Vintage theater seats offer stylish front porch seating, for reading, enjoying the yard, or visiting with locals in the neighborhood.
Before: Entry
After: Entry
Build manager Dylan Eastman found the modern architectural front door with glass that connects the entry to the porch outside. The door was sprayed coral, a color inspired by the life preservers seen on the docks in the waterfront of Portland, Maine.
Before: Living Room
After: Living Room
An L-shaped modular sofa with a relaxed silhouette provides super-comfortable seating in this cozy living room with bay window, located just off the home's front entry. This casual and stylish space with color and texture was designed for easy entertaining, relaxing and watching TV.

The living room is also located just steps away from the coastal-style breakfast room with seagrass pendant off the kitchen. Like the living room, the breakfast room has a bay window that designer Brian Patrick Flynn used to bring natural light into the casual dining space with storage bench.
Easy Transition
Before: Kitchen
After: Kitchen
The HGTV Urban Oasis 2020 kitchen is a central gathering space that combines timeless, rustic charm with modern day amenities. Painted white wood panel walls bring a fresh farmhouse feel while smart appliances and fixtures add high tech function to calm and airy kitchen.
Before: Studio
After: Studio
A wall-mounted HVAC unit on the studio wall keeps the space at a comfortable temperature. “By placing mini-split pumps throughout the home, we increase the occupant’s comfort as each space can be controlled independently,” says build manager Dylan Eastman. “It is also an easier way to install this modern convenience in an old home where duct work may be impractical.”

An ultra-white bed and blush pink relaxed Roman shades on the windows help balance the forest green walls and ceiling in this cozy guest bedroom.
Before: Guest Bedroom Closet
Before: Guest Bedroom Closet
Double white paneled doors open to the guest bedroom's generously sized closet. The inside of the closet was painted the same lush shade of forest green as the bedroom walls, to create a coordinated look.
Before: Guest Bathroom
After: Guest Bathroom
The color contrast between the soft pink walls and the white vanity adds definition and personality to this fashionable bathroom.
Main Bedroom
Numerous windows and top-grade skylights over a queen bed bring beautiful natural light into this tall and spacious main bedroom. Located on the second floor of HGTV Urban Oasis 2020, this bold space has a mostly blue color scheme, with touches of red and furniture sourced from local antique stores.
Main Bathroom
A sliding-glass door with frameless design separates the vanity area from the main bathroom's wet room with clawfoot tub and inviting shower. A massive window and well-positioned skylights bring natural light and soothing breezes inside, so you can fully enjoy the lush setting of this bold Portland, Maine maritime retreat.
Before: Backyard
After: Backyard
Layering natural textures throughout the backyard space draws the eye through several outdoor living areas. From a paved, brick fire pit lounge to a natural wood deck, the organic elements contrast with the home’s elegant dark grey exterior.
