Austin Outside

“One of the wonderful spaces in this house is the pergola-covered deck with an amazing dining area,” says designer Linda Woodrum, who feels the back deck will allow homeowners to take advantage of warm Austin nights.

Mixing Materials

The table on the back deck is made up of two small concrete tables that work together as one and offer a cool industrial vibe to this mostly wooden outdoor space.

Cool and Functional

A concrete table is a smart addition to the outdoor space, as it can also serve as a convenient cutting board for the nearby grilling station.

Natural Color Choice

Gray cushions add a sophisticated touch against warm teak outdoor furniture, and the soft, neutral tones elevate the surrounding natural beauty.

Party Central

Seating for six with plenty of room for more, this dazzling deck is sure to be a hit year round. “I think it’s a bonus spot that will be very popular and a fabulous entertaining space,” says Linda.

Outdoor Living

A sliding glass door connects the deck area to the living room. “It’s really an extension of the living room,” explains Linda. “It adds to the sense of space in the whole downstairs.”

Personal Space

A gorgeous cedar fence is a beautiful addition to the space that also serves to keep the area private and intimate.

Plush Seating

Comfortable seating is a must for entertaining, and these gorgeous chairs with ultra-soft cushions are the perfect addition to this cozy outdoor space.

Cool Under Cover

The exquisite wooden pergola is as stunning as it is practical. According to Linda, the space seems to always feel shaded, and that’s definitely a plus in hot Austin weather.

A Party Plus

Ideal for entertaining, a small outdoor kitchen is an absolute luxury that family and guests are sure to appreciate.

Location, Location, Location

A gas grill makes cooking a delight, and its proximity to the table ensures the cook doesn’t have to miss any of the fun.

Seasonal Eating

A wire basket holds fresh veggies nearby, making it easy to grill up the best the season has to offer.

Cooking With a Kick

What’s a meal in Texas without a little spice? A delicious mix of peppers should get the job done.

Southern Centerpiece

A lovely metal tray, glass planter and gorgeous floral arrangement give this space a subtle Southern charm that is certainly suitable for the Texas home.

Decking That Lasts

Light gray composite decking not only looks amazing, but it will also last for many years to come, holding its color and looking just as fabulous as the day it was put it.

Surrounded by Cypress

A gravel footpath lines the deck and is bordered on one side by a small stone retaining wall and a line of striking cypress trees.

Alternative Entrance

The cedar fence includes a door for easy access to and from the back deck, while the gravel footpath is a smart addition that looks fantastic and works well as a groundcover in an area that doesn’t get much rain.
