High school basketball coach and dad Demetris wanted to give back to his family by transforming the kids' dated bathroom into a functional and stylish space. Both tots and teens use the bathroom, so he decided to surprise his wife and three kids with the makeover.

Easy Upgrades, Major Style

Without having to completely renovate the bathroom, Demetris creates a completely refreshed space for his kids. Brushstroke wallpaper sets a colorful and contemporary scene, and the newly painted vanity is topped in a sleek white countertop.

Pulling a hue from the wallpaper, the vanity is painted a rich navy — instantly taking the cabinets from builder basic to completely custom. When designing a bathroom for younger kiddos, don't forget the step stool so they can wash their hands and brush their teeth on their own.

Make a Statement With Hardware

For a quick and simple bathroom update, trade out hardware, fixtures and lighting. Eye-catching knobs and pulls may seem like a small change, but they make a big impact and only require a screwdriver. For this project, Demetris chose Bauman Knobs and Colmar Pulls.

Toss those outdated faucets and opt for ones that bring in a sleek, modern aesthetic. The Hibiscus Widespread Faucet is a chic pairing with crisp, white countertops and undermounted sinks.

Lighting is key to any well-designed space, so Demetris selected the Antonio Vanity Light to illuminate this shared bathroom.

A pair of Prague Oval Tilting Mirrors hang above the vanity, helping to visually enlarge the space. An affirmation board is daily inspiration for the kids, and colorful accessories, such as fun animal towels hung on the Hibiscus Robe Hooks, add interest, making this bathroom fun for kids of all ages.
