Becky and Dave's kitchen is beige, boring and small. Danielle will design a beautiful new kitchen inspired by two shopping finds, a vintage painting of the sea and a ginger jar. She'll loft the ceiling to open up the space, and give them an island for better flow. The kitchen will have dark walnut cabinets, a crisp white quartz countertop, and a slate grey cork floor. A built in hutch will add storage and style with its chalkboard cabinets, and Moroccan tile backsplash. She'll carry the pattern from the tile onto the custom shutters for the windows. A whitewashed table and beachy accents will finish off the space. The new kitchen will be a warm and inviting space for the whole family to enjoy.
Lorraine and Gregorio have a big family and they love to entertain but their home is stuck in the past. Danielle will take inspiration from a cool vintage lamp, and design a sophisticated new living space. She'll mix mid-century modern finds with contemporary furniture, including an expandable dining room table and a convertible sofa for guests. Pops of deep teal and earthy yellow ochre will give the space new life, and custom furniture and artwork will add a real wow factor. Danielle's design will mix vintage and modern to create a gorgeous new space the whole family can enjoy.
Debbie and Chetan have a hard time agreeing when it comes to design, and as a result they haven't done anything with their family room. Danielle knows they both appreciate reclaimed objects and architectural details so she finds one inspirational item, a vintage doorknob, and then uses it as a springboard to design a room the whole family will love. She'll give them built ins backed with rustic reclaimed wood planks, and whitewashed spindles on the doors. A custom upholstered coffee table will double as an ottoman, it wipes clean and has no sharp edges so it's perfect for kids. Creative wall hangings like faux butterflies and decorative screens will complete the space. It will be a bright and lively family room that finally feels like home.
Joe and Niloo's tiny kitchen is too cramped for two, and their bright yellow dining room isn't Niloos's style so it's currently being used for bicycle storage! Danielle will tear down the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create one big eat-in kitchen that reflects both their styles. The starting point for her design is a lacquered modern sideboard in shades of purple and earthy green. She'll create a stunning focal point by covering a wall in copper subway tiles, and will add storage with open shelving and a center island topped with a honed black granite countertop. Finally Danielle decorates the room with unique items that bring together the couple's love of cycling, Brooklyn, and art. It will be a warm and modern kitchen, where they can cook, eat, and relax together.
Lori and Tom's living room is in desperate need of a makeover, their kids have the run of the house so they want one stylish room that's just for the adults. Danielle will shop for inspiring flea market finds, and then create a bright and sophisticated room with design elements from around the world. She'll bring the space to life with bold colors, global fabrics and unique metallic wall hangings. A custom game table with a Moroccan inspired carved top will be the center of a second seating area, and a patina treatment will add character to the fireplace surround. This stunning living room will be the perfect spot for entertaining, no kids allowed!
