9 Times Drew and Linda Made Us Believe in Love

Cynics beware: These two are seriously sweet.

When Drew Scott and Linda Phan told the world they’d gotten engaged last December, the world responded with a resounding WELL OF COURSE YOU ARE. In a world where so very many things go wrong, it’s downright lovely to share the joy of a couple that’s so unequivocally right.

Go on, just try dipping into social media with Property Brothers’ reigning king and queen of cute overload without breaking into a goofy grin.

When They Revisited Their First Date

As Linda told People, karaoke was the key to her heart when she met her fiancé-to-be back in 2010. After a first encounter at Toronto Fashion Week (where Drew made like Shakespeare and opened with the immortal line, “Hey, where’d you get that water?”), they followed up a few months later with what Linda calls “the longest first date ever”: sushi, hot chocolate and a karaoke party that Drew kind of crashed.

“I thought, OK, I’m going to duck out and head to this party,” Linda remembers. “And Drew said, ‘Oh, I’ll come.’ And in my head I thought, I didn’t really invite you, but sure.” That last stop was a fateful one, for as soon as Drew picked up the mic and launched into The Lonely Island’s “I’m on a Boat,” Linda was a goner.

When They Won Christmas in a Get-Along Sweater

Ugly holiday sweaters are mainstream at this point, but two-headed shirts are more commonly associated with squabbling siblings. We didn’t realize there was a hybrid version (let alone a romantic hybrid version) until Drew and Linda took one out on the town in Toronto in 2014 and ... loved it? It’s especially cute—and especially impressive—when you consider the fact that she’s 5-foot-2 and he’s 6-foot-4.”

When Linda Made Dinner for Two at 2 a.m.

Given that Linda is the creative director of Scott Brothers Entertainment and Drew is, well, Drew, it goes without saying that work takes them both all over the country all of the time. In Linda’s shoes (or fuzzy slippers), it’d be awfully tempting to catch some much-needed Z’s while home alone in the wee hours. Nope: A foodie shows love with an after-midnight meal.

When They Took Date Night to the Airport

Love-language experts take note: This unusual dialect involves syncing schedules so expertly that you and your partner can travel together even when you’re not traveling together. (Find someone who looks at you the way Drew and Linda look at each other ... and pizza.)

When They Went to Kenya with WE Charity

This summer, Linda and Drew joined Drew’s brother J.D. and his girlfriend, Annalee Belle, on a trip to Africa to work with—and spread the word about—WE Charity, an international nonprofit that operates programs for sustainable change all over the world. Activism is an integral part of their relationship.

When Drew Proposed with Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

“I’ve never met another woman like [Linda], and once you do, you want to be with her forever,” Drew told People about deciding to ask Linda to marry him. He had to be “stealthy as a ninja” to carry out the surprise proposal and engagement party: He headed to  New York to record a special version of Train’s “Marry Me,” which played at Toronto’s Piano Piano as the couple dined. That was the cue for the staff to roll out a cake inspired by the Dr. Seuss classic, one of Linda’s favorite books and a celebration of their future adventures. And, of course, Drew initiated with a custom-designed ring (which he’d been carrying around on the sly for weeks).

When Drew Made a Beeline for Linda on DWTS

Drew’s in extremely capable hands on Dancing with the Stars beside Season 24 champion Emma Slater (“She really is a superhero,” he’s said), but when he leaves the stage, he goes right back to his all-time favorite dance partner.

When They Faced Wedding Planning with Smiles

Married folks and experienced bystanders know that wedding planning is both exhilarating (We get to throw a party for our favorite people to celebrate our relationship!) and, occasionally, harrowing (How can my spouse-to-be have such irrational feelings about distant relatives/linens/seating arrangements/pastels/cake?). These two, on the other hand, are prepping a springtime overseas destination wedding featuring 14 bridesmaids. Now that’s what we call a power couple.

When They Invited Us to Their Most Personal Project

Jonathan’s on the hunt for a new roommate at the brothers’ Las Vegas pad now that Linda and Drew are Los Angeles homeowners. Back in March, the duo purchased a house built in 1921 in desperate need of renovations ... and in April, they announced plans to bring HGTV along for the ride on Property Brothers at Home: Drew's Honeymoon House as they reimagine it together (check out their tour of the extremely raw space here). Color us unsurprised that they’re dancing their way into the next phase of their lives together: These two have been perfectly in step for a long time.
