Season 5, Episode 3

Falling Flat Photography studio.

Dave, a photographer, wants to build a garage type structure in his backyard that will serve as his photo studio. He does everything by the book - has blueprints drawn up and approved, takes out construction permits and even involves his neighbors. What Dave gets for his diligence is a multitude of stall tactics and puzzling stop work orders from various city officials. Only after the Mayor intervenes, is the work finally completed (or so he thinks). Three years later, the studio's flat roof is plagued by constant leaks. In frustration, Dave brings in Mike Holmes to inspect the work. Mike immediately identifies the problem - the waterproof membrane was never actually finished! The Holmes On Homes team discovers that the water damage to the flat roof is so extensive, they have no choice but to pull it all down!
