A Malibu Christmas
Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke and actor/singer David Charvet love their custom-designed home in Malibu — especially when it's decorated for the holidays. HGTV recently celebrated the season with Brooke and her family, and they sent interior designer Sandra Espinet to transform their home into a festive holiday fantasyland they wouldn't soon forget.
Worldly Design
After finding the perfect property about 13 years ago, David spent two years building an Italian-style home with French design inside. "It's warm and cozy," Brooke says. "It's sort of the best of both worlds — we get what we want as far as romance and style, but it's still very kid-friendly."
Handpicked Details
David selected the home's materials and features himself, from the old French fireplaces to the tile and stone. "For me, it was really about building a home that Brooke and I could fall in love with," David says.
Winter Wonderland
Brooke and David normally decorate their home for the holidays in a very traditional way, using conventional Christmas colors like red and green. Sandra decided to push Brooke and David out of their comfort zone, turning their home into an all-white winter wonderland, and Brooke was blown away by the transformation. "I cannot believe how different it looks," she says. "It's so holiday and so winter — I love it."
Gleaming Accessories
Sandra outfitted Brooke and David's living room with all-white furniture, accented with plush faux-fur and metallic throw pillows. "Even though it's all white, it's still warm and so romantic and beautiful," Brooke says.
Cool Hues
In front of the fireplace, two traditional, ice-blue chairs flank a Santa Claus figure in snow-white robes. "I can't wait to bring the kids into the house," Brooke says, "It'll be like walking into a fantasy wonderland for them."
Delectable Decorations
For the dining room, Sandra covered Brooke's table with a white tablecloth and created a centerpiece with assorted glass jars filled with festive foods that complement the color scheme, such as marshmallows, popcorn and white chocolate-covered strawberries.
Romantic Retreat
Sandra turned the cabana into a dreamy fantasyland by hanging sheer curtains and highlighting the beams with glittering lights. "I never imagined the cabana could be so beautiful," Brooke commented.
Wintry Centerpiece
The floral centerpiece for the cabana table features hydrangeas and white roses. For a bit of sparkle, Sandra incorporated white Christmas tree ornaments in the arrangement.
