The Quest Continues for Vintage '70s Decor for HGTV's 'A Very Brady Renovation'
It's not just a Brady renovation. It's A 'Very' Brady Renovation. Accuracy and authenticity are the aim as HGTV restores the famous house to it's full '70s splendor. We want every detail, every bit of shag carpet and macrame, to be just the way you remember it. Here's how you can help!
Have you seen this horse? HGTV needs your help to find vintage '70s furnishings and decorative items to help complete the Brady house as authentically as possible.
You’ve probably heard the news. HGTV is renovating the real-life ‘Brady Bunch’ house and, what’s more, we’ve reunited all six Brady siblings from the original cast (for the first time in more than a decade!). They're teaming up with some of HGTV’s top design talent – Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan, Leanne and Steve Ford, Mina and Karen of Good Bones, Lara Spencer, Jasmine Roth and more – to pitch in on a faithful restoration of the famed house.
The objective is to recreate the interiors, making them every bit as “Brady” as you remember from watching that great-American sitcom in its hallowed bygone era – not to mention from the never-ending reruns that kept it in our collective consciousness for years beyond its run.
That brings us to our current quest — and to where you could possibly be part of the picture. Let’s just say that, around HGTV, Brady-mania is reaching a fever pitch. Plans have been drawn. Demo and construction at the house have gotten underway. There have been celebrity and special-guest drop-by’s. We’ve got a variety of special behind-the-scenes and digital companion series in the works. And there are more surprises in store.
The Great Brady Scavenger Hunt
In terms of the renovation and the production itself, as part of our commitment to be as Brady-authentic as possible, we undertook a crowd-sourcing effort of sorts – via social media and our website – and asked for your help in furnishing the Brady house. Not long ago we posted a gallery of still frames from original Brady Bunch episodes showing some of the items our producers are searching for. You can access the original gallery below.
The fans have not let us down. Below are examples of some of the items they've submitted thus far – alongside the genuine articles from the show for comparison. But keep reading. We still need your help.
The Scavenger Hunt Enters Phase II
To keep the ball rolling, and to achieve the highest state of Brady-ness possible, we’ve rounded up another gallery of original Brady-household items to hunt down, and we hope we can entice some of you to help us in our ongoing quest. Check out the gallery and see if you see anything that looks like something you’ve seen in your own attic – or a nearby thrift store, flea market or retro shop.
If you own or know where to find any items like the ones seen in the galleries above, you can let us know by direct messaging any of HGTV’s social media channels, by sharing a photo of the item with the hashtag #verybradyreno, or by sending an email to BradyBunchCrowdsourcing@gmail.com.
We’ve said it before: Help us find these items, and you could play a part in A Very Brady Renovation. Who knows. The Holy Grail of Brady-ness may still be out there.
Let the quest continue. And stay groovy!
