A Very Brady Hollywood-Extravaganza to Launch HGTV's New Series
When HGTV reunited the cast of the original 'Brady Bunch' -- along with some of HGTV's most well-known show talent -- to shoot a promo for the new series 'A Very Brady Renovation', the event took the form of a Hollywood opening night -- complete with bright lights, velvet ropes and red carpet promenade. (Make that a red *shag* carpet.) It all took place at the actual, and now fully restored, Brady house in suburban LA. For the event, HGTV stars decked out in their best '70s finery and arrived in "stretch limos" in the form of Brady-era vintage station wagons.
The Stars Come Out in Studio City
The cast of HGTV’s A Very Brady Renovation — the "Brady siblings" and the HGTV hosts and designers — gathered for a big premiere event at the actual Brady Bunch house in Studio City, Calif. The house has now fully "Brady-ized" to replicate both the interiors exterior seen in the original series.
Front row, left to right: Susan Olsen (aka Cindy Brady), Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady), Karen Laine and Mina Starsiak (of HGTV's Good Bones) and Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady). Second row, left to right: Eve Plumb (Jan Brady), Jasmine Roth (of Hidden Potential) and Christopher Knight (Peter Brady). Back row, left to right: Steve and Leanne Ford (of Restored by the Fords), Barry Williams (Greg Brady), Jonathan and Drew Scott (of Property Brothers) and Lara Spencer (of Flea Market Flip).
The Red (Shag) Carpet Awaits
To celebrate the upcoming premiere of the HGTV special series A Very Brady Renovation, the stage is set to receive the stars and creators of the show. Honorees will arrive and enter the now fully-renovated Brady house in full red-carpet style. Yes, it's a red shag carpet.
In Opening-Night Tradition
Grand Entrance
HGTV hosts and designers who participated in the Brady house renovation arrived at the event in vintage '70s-era station wagons — this one specially modified with a beaded door-curtain just like the one that once adorned Greg Brady's grooved-out (and short-lived) bachelor-pad bedroom.
Making a Splash
HGTV’s Jasmine Roth kept it casual, making her big entrance decked out in faded bellbottom jeans, purple floral tee, coordinating sash, gold bangle bracelet and '70s-style hoop earrings.
Ready for My Close-Up
Good Bones' Karen E Laine, who is seldom short on smiles, is the second of the HGTV cast members to arrive.
Who Are You Wearing?
Karen strikes a more classically formal note in a full-length silk dress in aqua-green, which stands out smartly on the red carpet.
Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress
Mina Starsiak of Good Bones is as stunning as a '70s Vogue cover girl in all-black, patterned head-scarf and peace-sign broach.

Bring on the Fringe
Steve and Leanne Ford arrive (appropriately enough) in a vintage Ford station wagon — complete with faux-wood side panels and brown naugahyde interior. Steve sports stitched designer bellbottom jeans, polyester graphic-print shirt (four buttons open) and an impressive suede jacket with sleeve fringe — not unlike the one made famous by Neil Young in the Buffalo Springfield era.

Behind Those Foster Grants
Steve accessorizes with a leather headband and rose-tinted gradient sunglasses with oversized hexagonal frames.
The Brothers Have Arrived
Property Brother Jonathan Scott emerges from a vintage Ford station wagon sporting a bold ensemble that includes wool plaid slacks, polyester print shirt, lots of gold chain and (this was a real thing) platform shoes with 3-inch acrylic heels that contain goldfish. Editor's Note: No actual goldfish were harmed in the filming of this event or program.
The Brothers Have Arrived
Brother Drew sports a mint-green leisure suit, pink shirt, white platform shoes and matching belt.

Mayhem on the Runway
Drew Scott abruptly grabs a microphone from a reporter, and trouble is about to ensue...
Mayhem on the Runway
In a moment reminiscent of a scene in one of the most famous Brady Bunch episodes ever, Drew tosses the microphone in the direction brother Jonathan, barely missing Maureen but striking Jonathan squarely in the nose.
Mayhem on the Runway
Brady fans will remember the classic 1973 episode, "The Subject Was Noses" in which Marcia, looking forward to an upcoming date with "the big man on campus", had an unexpected change of plans after receiving a a broken nose when her brother Peter tossed a footbal in her direction.
Mayhem on the Runway
Jonathan survived the flying-microphone incident but — just like Marcia Brady — was not entirely unscathed.
Brady Bunch Factoid: According to nostalgia website "History Garage", Maureen's injured nose was in fact real (though likely enhanced with makeup). After Maureen's nose was injured in a car accident, the show's writers worked the real injury into the episode's storyline.
The Gang's All Here
The full cast of HGTV’s A Very Brady Renovation — Brady Bunch cast and HGTV talent alike — pose for a group shot with fans at the entrance of the restored Brady home.

Behind the Scenes
Property Brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott pose with their stylish rides, vintage Ford 'Country Squire' station wagon — a family vehicle of choice throughout American suburbs in the days before anyone had ever heard the term "mini-van" or "SUV".

Jonathan and Drew strike poses in a moment reminiscent of the early-SNL's Festrunk brothers, Yortuk and Georg — better known to millions as "two wild and crazy guys!"

Modern Dining and Entertaining. Jonathan and Drew feast on fondue, served on vintage '70s dinnerware, at the recently renovated — and period-correct — Brady home.

Technical Difficulties. Jasmine Roth is a bit baffled with the operation of a stereo 8-track player at the renovated, and period-correct, Brady home.

Technical Difficulties. The stereophic marvel of 8-track audio. It's not exactly digital streaming.
Further Behind the Scenes
Sit ... Lie Down ... Roll Over ... Play Dead. Property Brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott ponder the existential implications of the "Pet Rock". A short-lived but bona fide mid-'70s pop-culture phenomenon, the Pet Rock consisted of an actual rock marketed with it's own pet carrier and an owner's manual titled The Care and Training of Your Pet Rock. Millions were sold. Go figure.
