Weather-Resistant Curtains
Nope! Curtains aren't just for your indoor windows. Hang colorful outdoor curtains like these on your porch during summer months. They are an easy, stylish solution to help pull your space together, provide some privacy, and offer protection from the sun. Use simple tension rods to hang your curtains, and store them until next summer once the weather cools.
Hanging Chair
A groovy hanging hammock chair like this one is a perfect addition to your outdoor space. It's a great pick for a boho- or eclectic-inspired porch area or backyard space. Incorporate patterned pillows for ultra relaxation.
Chic Bar Cart
A bar cart is a must-have for anyone who loves to entertain outdoors during warmer months. If you plan to keep your cart outside year-round, choose a durable material that can handle outdoor elements, such as bamboo, rattan or wicker. And, last but not least, stock the cart with booze, glasses, cocktail napkins, and small appetizers.
Outdoor Textiles
Add outdoor textiles for a quick outdoor boost. Don't be afraid of color or pattern. If you plan to leave your textiles out year-round, choose pillows and throws made with weather-resistant materials.
Outdoor Dining Area
Having an outdoor dining space to entertain family and friends is a luxury. A covered patio like this is ideal, but you can still create your own dining space in a backyard or small balcony. Choose outdoor furniture that fits your space — if you choose wood, pretreat it with a safe varnish.
Garden Stools
If you like to entertain outdoors for a large crowd, stock up on garden stools for extra seating. They're portable, so you can easily move them from the dining area to the firepit or the pool area. They're a budget-friendly way to ensure all your friends and family are comfortable and feel completely at home during your soiree.
Plants on Plants on Plants
Even if you're a serial plant killer, summer is a great time to experiment and bring more green into your life. These hanging planters are dual purpose as they provide additional privacy, but you don't have to go plant crazy. Visit a local nursery or home improvement store, and ask for suggestions on low-maintenance plants that are a good fit for your climate (Succulents are always a good option).
Portable Firepit
If you live in an area with cool nights, a portable firepit is a must. Set it up in a safe area of your yard, and surround it with Adirondack chairs. Add floor pillows to make it extra cozy, and invite all your friends over for a s'mores party.
Hammock
A hammock is a true outdoor classic. To add a modern touch, opt for a bold-colored hammock. If your space is lacking trees, hang your hammock on an outdoor overhang, instead.
Outdoor Rug
Incorporating an outdoor rug is a quick and easy upgrade. Made of outdoor-friendly materials, they're easy to maintain and keep clean (most can be hosed off). This graphic black-and-white rug elevates this space into a true outdoor living room.
