Magnolia Stellata/Star Magnolia

Star magnolias are a deciduous species that also bloom in spring.

The cultivar ‘Royal Star’ puts on one of the best shows. This magnolia is usually sold multi-stemmed and helps add structure to the garden during winter. The blooms of 'Royal Star' are pure white.

This tree grows to 15 feet tall, making it an excellent choice for a small landscape. Star magnolia can be planted in full sun or part shade. While the tree is hardy to zone 4, a single freeze while in bloom causes the flowers to drop off the tree.
