New US Port of Call

If you’ve never gone on a Disney cruise, 2020 is the year to change that. These family-favorite ships are packed with all of the entertainment you’d expect from a Disney park plus onboard amenities that really set Disney Cruise Line apart from other cruise companies. And there are so many new sailings coming to DCL in 2020 such as a brand-new domestic port of call in New Orleans. The Disney Wonder ship is headed to the Bayou with select sailings to the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean. It’s fitting that the Wonder will kick off the New Orleans sailings as the ship features a Princess and the Frog restaurant with a Cajun-inspired menu and a New Orleans-style jazz show.

Returning to Greece

The most buzz-worthy DCL update for 2020 is the cruise line’s return to Greece. After a five-year hiatus, the Disney Magic ship is offering new Mediterranean itineraries with “a selection of stops in Greece with visits to other notable cities in the region.” Those notable cities include a return to the charming old world town of Dubrovnik, Croatia, and a new port of call in Messina, Italy, that will offer new excursions in and around Sicily.

New Southern France Sailings

In addition to Disney Cruise Line’s ocean sailings, you might not know that Disney sails popular European rivers in partnership with AMAWaterways. These sailings are booked through Disney’s travel tour company Adventures By Disney. The river cruise industry isn’t exactly known for catering to kids. In fact, several of the major river cruise companies have a strict 18+ policy. But Disney and AMAWaterways are making it possible to experience iconic rivers such as the Danube, Rhine and Rhone with little ones in tow. And for 2020, Adventures By Disney is offering a brand-new Rhone River sailing through Southern France with stops in picturesque Provence towns such as Lyon, Tournon, Avignon and Arles.

Returning to Hawaii

Back by popular demand, Disney Cruise Line is returning to Hawaii with select sailings to and from Honolulu and Vancouver. In addition to Oahu and its famed beaches of Waikiki, these routes will also include the islands of Maui and Kauai. These sailings are a great way to island hop and get a taste of the landscapes and differences of multiple islands in just one trip. And if you have the time, you can always add a stay at Disney’s Aulani resort on Oahu before or after your cruise for a little extra Hawaiian R&R.
