3 DIY Breakfast-Themed Costumes for Baby Bumps
Do you love avocado toast? Eggs and bacon? Doughnuts and coffee? Turn your favorite breakfast (or pregnancy craving) into an easy, adorable Halloween costume for your baby bump and a friend.
Being pregnant on Halloween may mean you can’t indulge in booooo-zy drinks at Halloween parties, but it doesn’t mean you can’t rock a really cute costume. Make any of these three DIY breakfast-themed couple costumes in no time with only a few supplies, and the main one is something you probably already have on hand – a cardboard box.
With scissors and a little paint, you can transform a cardboard box into a quick and easy (for real, so easy!) costume for a baby bump. So, grab a partner or friend who’s the bacon to your eggs, the coffee to your doughnut or the avocado to your toast (looking at you, millennial soon-to-be moms), and get ready for your close-up.
Avocado Toast Costume

- Sharp scissors
- Foam paintbrushes

Step 1: Draw Avocado

Cut a panel of the unassembled box for the avocado. Place and trace a dinner plate on the cardboard. Measure four inches from sides and bottom of the traced circle, making a mark with a pencil on those three sides. Then, measure up 12 inches from the top of the traced circle and mark. Connect marks to create an avocado outline.

With sharp scissors, cut out the avocado shape and the traced circle to make a hole for the belly.
Step 3: Paint

Apply two coats of lime green paint, letting dry between coats. Apply yellow paint around the hole, and blend with green paint, creating an ombré effect to resemble the inside of an avocado. Paint a thin border of dark green paint around the edge to resemble avocado skin.
Step 4: Add Twine Loop

Cut Xs with a craft knife or use a hole punch to create two holes at the top. Loop twine through long enough to hang around your neck (We did 25 inches). Double knot to secure.
Step 5: Complete the Look

Wear a brown shirt to resemble the pit of an avocado. Make toast for your partner-in-costume by cutting out a toast shape on another panel of the cardboard box. Paint a dark brown trim around the edge, painting a slightly thicker border on one side to add dimension. Cut out a yellow square of butter and glue to toast.
Eggs + Bacon Costume

Supplies:
Step 1: Draw Egg

Trace dinner plate onto one panel of an unassembled cardboard box. Using a pencil, freehand a shape resembling a sunny-side-up egg onto the cardboard.
Step 2: Cut Egg

Cut outlined shape as well as the traced circle with sharp scissors, creating a hole for the belly.

Apply two coats of white acrylic paint, letting dry between coats.
Step 4: Add Twine Strap
Poke holes with a craft knife or hole punch. Loop twine through, long enough to hang around your neck. Double knot to secure.
Step 5: Complete the Look

Wear a yellow shirt to resemble an egg yolk, and have your partner throw on this amazing bacon scarf.
Doughnut + Coffee Costume

Tag team this costume with your partner, BFF or whoever's the person you doughnut know what you'd do without.

Trace a dinner plate onto the cardboard, and measure and mark four inches out at the top, bottom, right side and left side. To get a more three-dimensional look, connect the marks in a circle, but use the 4-inch marking on the bottom as a guide to freehand the bottom border to be a little wider than the rest, forming a non-perfect circle.
Step 2: Cut Doughnut

Cut out the shape with sharp scissors, followed by a hole for the belly.

Apply two coats of pink acrylic paint, letting dry between coats. On the side with the wider border, leave some of the cardboard showing and paint the pink edge in a freehanded, curved shape to mimic dripping icing. Erase any visible trace lines.
Step 4: Add Sprinkles

While the paint dries, cut out sprinkle shapes from construction paper in various, bright colors. Attach paper sprinkles to the painted doughnut with a glue stick.
Step 5: Complete the Look

With another panel of cardboard, create an oversized cup for your partner-in-costume to hold. We used light blue, dark brown and white craft paints to create ours. For an even faster route, simply have your partner carry a regular coffee mug.
