Think about everything you touch on a daily basis — doorknobs, the toilet flusher, cash, shopping carts, gas pumps, gym equipment — the list goes on and on. And in turn, you then touch your face, which makes you susceptible to catching a virus. Our hands are covered in germs, but it's almost second nature for us to sanitize our hands multiple times a day (or at least I hope so).

Cellphones are a different story. Multiple studies have shown that our cellphones may harbor even more germs than our hands (and even public restrooms — gross). Your cellphone could be a breeding ground for germs like E. Coli and Streptococcus, to name a few. But when is the last time you sanitized your phone? I personally don't like sanitizing with wipes or liquid sanitizer because it creates streaks on my screen, and mixing liquids and electronics simply doesn't make sense.

Enter the PhoneSoap. PhoneSoap is a device that uses UV-C light technology to kill 99.9 percent of harmful bacteria on your phone. I use my PhoneSoap every morning to sanitize my phone, car keys, credit cards and other bacteria-laden items. (It isn't effective on porous materials.)

How PhoneSoap Works

To effectively and safely sanitize your phone, PhoneSoap uses UV-C light technology — a germicidal short-wavelength, ultraviolet light that breaks apart germ DNA, leaving it unable to function or reproduce. UV-C can even neutralize "superbugs" that have developed a resistance to antibiotics. To sanitize, simply place your phone inside the device and close the lid. A blue indicator light lets you know it's running its cycle. After five to 10 minutes (duration depends on your specific device), the light will turn off and your phone is officially sanitized. That's all it takes — no liquids or wipes.

I like to keep my PhoneSoap at my desk. I place my phone inside while I grab my morning tea and breakfast, and by the time I'm ready to start my workday, my phone is sanitized.

Not only does PhoneSoap sanitize, but you can also charge your phone simultaneously. With the PhoneSoap 3, there's a USB port in the back of the unit to plug in your charging cord. The PhoneSoap Go acts as a power bank, so you can charge your phone up to four times on-the-go as long as the unit itself is fully charged. The PhoneSoap Wireless not only has a USB port, but it also has a built-in Qi charger for smartphones that has the capability to charge wirelessly. This gives you the opportunity to sanitize two items at once.

Choosing the Right PhoneSoap Model

PhoneSoap offers different UV devices so you can sanitize everything from your phone to household items, like remotes and more. When picking a product, make sure the device is big enough to fit your phone and phone case.
