Play It Up

Playfulness is the name of the game in this home office. Beginning with the puzzle artwork above the desk, basic geometric shapes are incorporated throughout the space. An area rug of square carpet tiles defines the work area and is repeated in the bookshelves surrounding the desk. Light-blue walls allow the bold colors from the artwork and file cabinet to pop. Bright Idea

Warm, sunny colors are used against stark white walls and cabinets to create a powerful punch of color in this home office. Vibrant orange sets off the work surface while golden yellow hues illuminate the open shelving and area rug. Design by Celia Berliner.

Accent on Color

White cabinetry and a cream sofa focus this office. The neutral backdrop allows the energetic rug and playful shelf accessories to pop out. Design by Celia Berliner.

Modern Vibes

A vibrant painting of swirls instigates the color palette for this lively home office. An orange base is used for the desk, and an airy, green blown-glass lamp echoes the whimsy of the painting. Even the chair back takes a cue from the curves in the artwork. Design by Lori Dennis.

Inspirational Blues

Inspiration is never far away when water is nearby. This home office takes advantage of the notion by angling the desk to take in full views of the water. Traditional furniture pieces feel fresher when painted in varying shades of teal and paired with coordinating blue accessories. Photo courtesy of Stanley Furniture.

Wise Work

A bold orange stripe sets off this work area, while a stenciled owl keeps a wise watch over studies. White work surfaces and file cabinets offer bold contrast against orange and black. Clutter-free walls and desk space create a distraction-free environment and allow the bold hues to become the focal point of the space. Design by RMS user lillyawu.

Color Study

Color doesn't have to be about the furnishings. In this case, the books provide a striped, storied backdrop to neutral club chairs and an ottoman. Dashes of color are incorporated with orange pillows and a plaid lampshade. Design by RMS user srk1941.
