Hollywood Kitchen's Return to Glamour

A lot of famous people have lived in designer Nicole Sassaman's Hollywood home. Gloria Vanderbilt and Greta Garbo are just a couple of them. But by the time Nicole bought this home, the movie-star ambiance was long gone.
After a major renovation, the size of kitchen was doubled. The space is now a large industrial-style kitchen with plenty of room for friends and family.
No expense was spared on the appliances. The kitchen is well equipped with a large stainless-steel refrigerator, double ovens, two dishwashers and a conveniently located warming drawer.
One of the most unique features in this kitchen is the recessed door. It is covered in chalkboard material to give the homeowners a fun place to express their artistry.
This is a great kitchen for parties. The homeowner is able to cook and still keep all her guests in view. The lower level of the two-tiered island has a limestone countertop, while the upper level is topped with a cool glass surface to protect the wood and make for easy cleanup.
Built into the lower level of the island is this handy, unusually shaped prep sink. Having a sink in the island allows the homeowner to prepare food and entertain her guests at the same time.
A dark mahogany finish was used on the cabinets for a rich, modern look. For the insets, the original plan was to have just a mesh screen material, but the homeowner didn't like it because you could see all the contents inside the cabinets. To solve that problem, she placed frosted Plexiglas behind the screen.
