I'll admit, I'm the most high-maintenance and lightest sleeper you'll ever meet. It has to be completely dark, I have to fall asleep to my sound machine, I need to stay cool, my husband better not move at all, and above all else, I need a super comfy mattress. (I envy those who can fall asleep on a flight. What's your secret?) It's safe to say that I'm pretty picky when it comes to choosing a mattress. You can buy from several mattress companies online these days, but the new TEMPUR-Cloud mattress from Tempur-Pedic caught my eye. The TEMPUR-Cloud mattress features the same tried-and-true TEMPUR material (initially developed by NASA) that provides pressure relief and motion cancellation. So, of course, I had to test it out for myself. Below, I share key features and my takeaways after sleeping on the mattress for five weeks. (TL;DR: It's worth every penny.)

Top 6 TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Features

  • TEMPUR Technology. The TEMPUR-Cloud mattress consists of the same material as a traditional Tempur-Pedic mattress. TEMPUR material was initially developed by NASA scientists to provide an aircraft seat that allows astronauts to feel comfort and weightlessness. Now, Tempur-Pedic consumers can experience the same feeling while sleeping. Plus, they've re-engineered the material for more efficient shipping and even more comfort than before.
  • Pressure Relief. TEMPUR material forms to your body and provides pressure relief where you need it most. (Read: No more aches and pains.)
  • Motion Separation. You or your partner can move around all you want because TEMPUR material prevents motion transfer.
  • Cooling Benefits. The TEMPUR-Cloud wicks away moisture and adapts to your body temperature to keep you comfortable all night long.
  • 90-Night Trial. Tempur-Pedic will deliver the mattress right to your front door for free. If you don't love it, they'll pick it up within the 90-night trial period.
  • 10-Year Limited Warranty. TEMPUR-Cloud guarantees 10 years of great sleep or your money back.

Why I Loved the TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress

If you sleep next to a partner and are a light sleeper, this mattress is the one for you. I used to wake up many times during the night because of my husband tossing and turning, but now I don't at all. TEMPUR material eliminates any motion transfer. Even if I get out of and back into bed, my husband (who is also a light sleeper) doesn't wake up anymore. That alone is a game-changer for me.

Another big pro is the comfort level of the mattress. Whether you like a firm or soft mattress (I'm in the middle), the TEMPUR-Cloud forms to your body and feels personalized to your comfort level. My husband (who prefers a softer mattress) said it best, "At first, it feels too firm for my liking, but as you lie down on it, it becomes softer and very comfortable." Even though we both have completely different preferences, this mattress meets both of our comfort needs.

I can't compare the TEMPUR-Cloud to a traditional Tempur-Pedic mattress since I haven't slept on one, but I never feel too warm sleeping on it. As someone who loves staying cool all night, I didn't find this to be a problem. Before, I had a traditional mattress with a cool gel top, and I don't feel any difference with this one as far as temperature goes. Also, the moisture-wicking material of the TEMPUR-Cloud is amazing. I wake up feeling cool and comfortable every morning.

You don't need a box spring to support the mattress. We simply placed our mattress on a platform bed frame, and we haven't had any issues with support or movement. You can shop for TEMPUR-Cloud mattress bases here.

And a bonus for the environmentally-conscious: Tempur-Pedic makes their mattresses with the planet in mind. Their factories are zero-landfill facilities, and even their home office has a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the US Green Building Council, which means they use sustainable processes that minimize energy consumption and waste.

Is the TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Worth It?

Short answer: Yes! If you're a light sleeper, sleep next to your partner and/or have chronic aches and pains, the TEMPUR-Cloud provides the pressure relief and comfort level that many conventional mattresses don't. As a light sleeper, I'm getting much better sleep on this mattress. Prices start at $1,699 for a twin-sized mattress. That's a bit pricier than your standard bed-in-a-box, but the TEMPUR-Cloud is totally worth it if you've been struggling to find the perfect mattress soulmate.

(And Loved)

"These super-soft, Egyptian cotton sheets completely transformed my sleep experience," Kayla said. "The 420-thread-count fabric is silky smooth and felt cooling compared to my other (less-luxurious) sheet sets. The best part, though, are the DreamFlex bands that keep the fitted sheet perfectly in place on my mattress. My sheets normally shift around or wrinkle up throughout the night, but these color-coded straps hold tight. Simply match the gold straps on one end and the white straps on the other; no more trying to figure out which corner goes where."

"I’ve actually been sleeping on my TEMPUR-Cloud pillow for two years now, and I LOVE it," Kayla explains. "The extra-soft TEMPUR material feels like a traditional pillow but adapts to your body and provides lots of support. Although it’s better suited for back and stomach sleepers, I find it equally as comfortable when I sleep on my side. I wondered how my two-year-old TEMPUR-Cloud would compare to my brand-new one, and guess what? You can’t tell the difference! My original pillow feels just as soft and supportive as the day I bought it. (I think that says something.) If you’re someone who cannot sleep on hotel pillows (me!), then this pillow is your ideal travel companion, too. It easily compresses and rolls up to the size of a beach towel to fit perfectly inside a suitcase, making nights away from home even more comfortable. Plus, the zip-off cover is machine-washable."
