Make Your Own Hardware-Store Jewelry With Copper Pipe + Rope

Make a modern piece of jewelry with inexpensive supplies from your local hardware store. Copper, the next trendy metal, looks contemporary and unique on this rope necklace.

Materials Needed:

  • 1/4" twisted polyester rope in desired color
  • (5) 1/2" copper pipe fittings
  • industrial adhesive
  • scissors

Cut Rope

Cut a 20" long piece of rope.

Add First Copper Fitting

Thread one copper fitting onto the rope, and place it in the center of the rope.

Add Second Copper Fitting

Thread both ends of the rope into a second copper fitting.

Thread one copper piece onto the rope. Place it in the center of the rope.

Create Two Loops

Take each rope end and thread it back up through the copper fitting, creating two loops on each side.

Pull Rope

Pull the rope ends taught.

Add Two Copper Fittings

Thread one copper fitting onto each rope end.

Thread one copper piece onto each rope end

Add Final Copper Fitting + Glue

Using industrial glue, attach the ends of the rope into the last copper fitting. Put the left rope end into the left side of the fitting, then glue the right rope end into the right side of the fitting. This finishes off your necklace.
