How to Turn an Old Cabinet Into a Beachy Statement Piece

Materials Needed

Step 1

Remove the shelves and the glass from the doors, and set aside. Remove and discard any fretwork.

Step 2

Using a cat’s paw, pry off the backboard and set aside. Unscrew and discard the knobs and pulls.

Step 3

Sand the cabinet and shelves, and fill in any holes with patching compound, such as Ready Patch. Let dry, then sand again. Wipe off dust with a tack cloth. Prime the entire cabinet, including the shelves and backboard. Let dry.

Step 4

Paint the cabinet and the shelves, and let dry. Apply wallpaper to the backboard.

Step 5

Nail the backboard into place, then replace the shelves. Drill new holes for hardware and attach. Replace the glass.
