Glass Vases Decorated With Colorful Dots

Confetti-Dotted Vases

All you need to dress up a tired vase? Opaque glass paint, a toothpick and an hour.

Materials Needed:

  • small glass vases
  • opaque glass paint — 3 or 4 different colors
  • elegant toothpicks (with a flat top)
  • paper plate

Apply First Color

Wipe surface of vase with alcohol. Pick your first color and apply some to a paper plate. Put only a small dab since this paint dries quickly. Dip the flat end of the toothpick into the paint, and start dotting the bottom of the vase (images 1 and 2). You will eventually get a layered effect, so don't worry too much about spacing. Allow to dry for 10 minutes.

Apply Second Layer

Next, add a dab of your second color to the paper plate, and repeat the previous steps (image 1). Allow to dry for 10 minutes before moving on to the next color. Repeat the process for the rest of the colors until you get your desired look (image 2).

Allow to Cure or Bake

Let the paint air-cure for 21 days, or bake the vases in the oven to manufacturer's specifications. Bake it in a muffin tin to keep the vases upright.
