How to DIY a Tropical Caned Coffee Table
This coffee table went from blah and boring to totally beachy. HGTV Magazine shows you how.
Sand and prime the table. Spray-paint it green, and let dry.
Use scissors to cut a piece of caning big enough to cover the entire top. Attach the caning to the top of the table with spray mount.
Make a border for the caning with bamboo strips: Using a crafts knife, cut two pieces per side and miter the corners. Nail the bamboo strips to the table, covering the raw edges of the caning. Conceal the nail holes with putty. Let dry.
Protect the caned top with a plastic drop cloth and painter’s tape, then spray-paint the bamboo border green. Remove the tape and the plastic while the paint is still slightly wet. Let dry.
