Refreshing Spring Dogwood Wreath

By: Kristalyn Naylor

Materials and Tools:

curly willow wreath in desired size
silk poppy stems
silk hydrangea bunches in varying sizes
silk dogwood stems
silk greenery or herbs
bird's nest (natural or available at craft store)
moss
floral wire
hot glue gun and glue sticks
pliers or clippers

Steps:

1. Decide which side of the wreath will be the front. Attach bird's nest to wreath with floral wire in the bottom left corner or another location if you prefer.

2. Next, trim poppy stems so they are no longer than four or five inches. Tip: This length is just right for anchoring flowers in the wreath while still allowing for some movement while you decide on their final placement. Add poppies to wreath, securing them, if needed, with a dot of hot glue.

3. Trim hydrangea stems and add them to the wreath. Secure stems with hot glue or floral wire, if stems are too heavy for glue.

4. Trim and add dogwood stems, placing them in groups around the wreath. Cover any visible floral stems or ends with moss.

5. For added texture and color, fill in with sprigs of greenery in varying lengths. Insert the greenery at differing angles for a three-dimensional look.

6. Finally, loop wire or ribbon around the top of wreath for hanging.
