DIY Golden Champagne Flutes
Spread holiday cheer with these golden DIY goblets.
Handmade gifts are my favorite things to share during the holiday season. Whip up a swanky set of these modern champagne flutes for your next soiree, or gift these gilded gems for anyone who loves to entertain. Purchase brand new glassware, or repurpose a gently-used set for an affordable update on a classic.
Materials
- set of champagne flutes
- paintbrush
- sponge brush
- decoupage glue
- gold leaf
Prep Surface
Wash glasses thoroughly with soapy water and wipe dry. Apply a thin layer of decoupage glue with a paintbrush. Avoid applying to the rim of the glass.
Apply Gold Leaf
Gently press gold flakes onto the glass using a sponge brush (Image 1). Allow the glasses to dry for approximately one hour before removing excess gold flakes with a dry sponge brush (Images 2 and 3).
Apply Glue
Apply another thin layer of decoupage glue over the gold leaf. Allow to dry completely for one hour. Hand-wash before use.
