Winter Sparkle
This simple holiday project adds glitz and glam to your decor. It takes very little time and most of what you need you already have.
Gathering the Materials
You will need: a large vessel (pitcher, vase, or bowl will work)/ a branch from outside (works best with lots of tiny twigs)/ pruning shears/ white spray paint/ silver glitter/ sand/ artificial snow/ ornaments for decorating
Preparing the Branch
Trim the branch to create the look you want. Remove any oddly placed twigs as necessary. Brush the twig off gently to remove any excess debris.
Spraying the Branch
Spray the branch with spray paint. Give it a second coat while it is still wet. Do not worry about complete coverage. It will give the branch more appeal to have some of the texture showing through.
Adding the Glitter
While the paint is still wet, generously sprinkle glitter all over the branch. Add more than you think you need as some will fall off. Hang the branch upside down to dry completely.
Preparing the Vessel
Add sand to the vessel you will be using as a base. Leave 2-3 inches at the top to cover with artificial snow.
Filling the Top
Insert the dried branch into the sand and cover the top of the sand with artificial snow.
Adding the Ornaments
Strategically place small ornaments on the twigs to get the look you desire. Use the hoop at the top of the ornament or add wire to the ornaments for some of them to dangle.
Small and Simple
Choose a collection of ornaments that are small and simple for best results. Choose a theme and stick with it…monochromatic, metallic, colorful, striped, etc.
A Little Bling
The glittery branches will add sparkle to your ornaments and make this branch shine.
Glittery Greetings
This simple holiday decor has a sophisticated-meets-handmade feel.
