Copper-Leafed Glass Hurricanes

Materials Needed:
- glass hurricanes
- 1 package copper leaf
- leaf adhesive
- 1" artists' brush
- 2" chip brush or soft bristled brush
Apply Adhesive
Clean and dry glass. Using a one-inch artists' brush, apply a thin layer of leaf adhesive to inside of hurricane (Images 1 and 2). Allow to dry until adhesive is clear and tacky (Image 3). Tip: To eliminate possible drips or pooling, gently brush over adhesive after about 10 minutes of drying time to create a smooth surface.

Apply Copper Leaf
Working from top of the rim down, gently apply full sheets of copper leaf to entire interior of hurricane (Image 1). Smooth down with fingertip or chip brush (Image 2). Continue adding sheets until interior is completely covered. Buff copper with chip brush in a circular pattern to remove excess leaf then empty loosened bits from hurricane. The brush attachment on a vacuum is a great way to remove excess copper leaf. Insert candle or tealight and light as usual. Note: Never leave a burning candle unattended.
