Modern Trellis Pattern

Pottery Barn's Kendra Trellis Doormat is inspired by the design of structures that can add charm and beauty to gardens. Made of coir fibers, the doormat is 100 percent biodegradable.

All About Antlers

Interior designer Suzanne Kasler's collection for Ballard Designs brings in the antler image, which is popping up often in wall decor. The antler coir mat comes in colors such as blue (shown), black, green, bronze and red, and can be personalized.

Elegant and Eco-Friendly

The Isabella doormat, by Kosas Home, is made of coir, a fiber derived from coconut husks.

Flower of the Lily Underfoot

The options for doormats using a fleur-de-lys design seem endless. The simplicity of this doormat (by Entryways), with a single fleur-de-lys image and black border on tan coir, can create an elegant entryway. Sold at retailers including Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Staples.com and The Home Depot.

Spice Up Your Entry

We're digging the roughhewn look of this herb garden doormat. It's made of braided coco fibers, with drawings of lavender, mint and thyme.

Go with Zig-Zag

This doormat mixes two trends - chevron pattern and ombre coloring, in a green hue that could fit with Christmas decor or a springtime entryway update. It's by Entryways, whose doormats are available through retailers such as Hayneedle.com, Wayfair.com, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Amazon.com.

Vintage French Inspiration

The fleur-de-lis image embellishes a doormat in another interesting way, filling the center and corners. For this all-weather mat made by Imports Decor and sold by Authenteak, the design is grooved within the thick coir fibers.

Checking In

Checks and brushstrokes combine for an eye-catching doormat by MacKenzie-Childs. The Courtly Check Entrance Mat incorporates black and white checks and jewel tones for the border, all into one stylish coir welcome mat. It's also available in a double-door size.

Nautical Style

This rope doormat doesn't go overboard on a nautical theme. The twisted coir ropes can withstand dirt and bring seaside flair to your front, back or side porch.

Fleur-de-Lis and Functional

The textured design of Ballard Designs' fleur-de-lis doormat brings attention to the stylized lily motif and acts as a scraper to remove dirt and moisture from shoes. The doormat, which can be monogrammed with a single initial, is available in gray and camel.

Holiday Chic

Doormats often are switched out during the holidays, and so many of them have a cutesy look with snowman, Santas and other wintertime images. The shape of the trees in this one is more stylish than cartoonish, making it a holiday winner.

It's OK to opt for a small indoor/outdoor rug as a doormat, and here's one option. The 2-by-3 Storm rug has brown, cream and gold tones in a nature-inspired pattern. The hand-hooked rug is made of 100 percent polypropylene by Surya.

Octagon Shape

Eight sides makes this coir doormat stand out a little more, plus the patterns within a pattern. The Torquay Entrance Mat has a vase of spring flowers and thistle as the centerpiece, surrounded by a check border.
