Make a Fruit Smoothie With Fresh Snow
Just one more reason to wish for another snow day.
Time to scoop up that fresh snowfall, and treat yourself to a healthy treat — a batch of snow-based smoothies. You'll feel like you’re on a tropical beach instead of stuck indoors in the tundra.
Before you scoop the snow, prep the fruit and have the blender ready to go. Incorporate all of your favorite ingredients — we included a pound of strawberries, one mango, one banana and a 1/2 cup coconut milk.
Scoop up six cups of clean, fresh white snow. Avoid snow from piles you shoveled, and don’t grab any that's near the road, beneath gutters or in pet areas.
Fill the blender to the top with snow, working quickly as fresh snow melts fast.
Add Other Ingredients
Add the ingredients in layers. Pour the milk in the bottom, then a layer of fruit followed by snow. Repeat these layers a few more times.
Blend until smooth, and pour into a glass. Rim the glass with banana if desired, and drink immediately (bathing suit and beach towel, optional).
Make Ice Pops
If you have extra, pour the smoothie into molds, and re-freeze to make ice pops. Plastic spoons are a great substitute for sticks. The shape of the spoon makes it easier to extract, so you can enjoy the ice pop before it melts.
