Take a Bite Out of Summer With This Tasty Shark Treat
Shark Week is approaching faster than a great white, and we've got the perfect DIY conversation piece to make your viewing parties the best in town.
Summer is superb from start to finish, but there is one week we just can’t wait to sink our teeth into: Shark Week. This year is no different, and we have the perfect pairing to make sure this Shark Week is the fiercest yet.
Prep Your Watermelon
To create this maritime masterpiece, start by using a dry erase marker to outline a rectangle on the top of a watermelon. Cut out along the lines. Remove every bit of fruit from inside, and set it aside for later. Next, using the same technique, cut a circle out on the front of the watermelon where the stem was attached. Use a knife to carve the skin around the circle. Create a menacing mouthful of teeth by cutting small triangles out around the entirety of the circle.
Assemble the Shark
Utilizing the cutout rectangle, cut out a fin and tail piece. Attach the tail vertically with two toothpicks, and suspend the fin in the middle of the rectangle with a long, wooden skewer.
Fill and Enjoy
Fill this little land shark to the brim with assorted fruits, but don’t forget two very important finals touches: melon eyes! Two toothpicks and two balled melons positioned on the side of the head will really send this shark swimming and make this year’s Shark Week one to remember!
