Tour a Pink Victorian Home in Texas Decorated for Christmas

Not many people can say they grew up in a 120-year-old pink house, but I can. My parents still live in the historic district of McKinney, Texas, and sometimes if you are really lucky, you can see their house on the annual tour of Christmas homes. My mother, Fredda Perkins, knocks it out of the park with her colorful decorations and enviable collections. Can’t make it to North Texas? No problem, I took pictures for you.

Pretty in Pink

Though my family has lived in this house almost 40 years, it is often referred to as The Aaron-Harris House, which is what the Texas Historic Landmark on the front of the house says. During the holidays, the festive decorations spill onto the porch.

Here Comes Santa

My mother collects a lot of things, and Santa is one of many. The large Santa drinking Coca-Cola in the center of this collection actually came from my grandfather's Troup, Texas, grocery store, Moore's Food.

Pastels and Mercury Glass

Pastel bottlebrush trees look cozy on the Victorian table, nestled into mismatched antique silver serving dishes and covered in mercury glass balls.
