Bold Sofas

The two identical emerald green Midcentury modern style sofas in the lounge-worthy living room include hardwood box frame construction, plush velvet upholstery, button tufting and tapered wood legs. "They’re happy sofas, you don’t forget about them," says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. "We went understated with the walls and then went bold with the sofas."

Hip Lounge Chairs

A pair of fire engine red lounge chairs crafted from high-quality vinyl cord add a punch of color on the front porch. "I love to add a touch of the unexpected in easy-to-remove elements when designing a space like that," says Brian. "They’re something young, cool and hip that fit this urban neighborhood packed with young families."

Boutique Style

Offering classic and timeless style, a teal green upholstered settee with solid pine frame in the master closet features rounded arms and turned legs in a rich espresso finish. "It’s a pretty generously sized closet, and when I can I like to make a closet feel more like a dressing room," says Brian.

Geometric Design

Crafted from fir, pine, poplar wood and iron, a pair of natural-finished coffee tables with brass-finished bottoms in the garage have a modern geometric shape. "They’re really sculptural and unexpected in an industrial space like the garage," says Brian. "They’re a cross between rustic and glamorous."

Chic Chandelier

Above the parlor seating area sits a globe chandelier that illuminates the space. The impressive chandelier features a durable and safe acrylic globe shade that looks and feels like frosted glass with a metal frame and polished nickel finish. "Of all the rooms in the house, the parlor is a very formal space and we needed a piece to break up that all formal look," says Brian.

Bright, Bold and Eye-Catching

In one of the home’s two guest bedroom sits a full-sized Jenny Lind-style bed that has a carved wood solid frame with each turned spindle leg and slat painted with a lacquered black finish. "Everything else in this bedroom is super bright," says Brian. "Having a black bed kind of allows it to fit in with all the color. With this bed, you notice the shape more than the color and that’s why we went with black."

Lounge-Worthy Seating

The inviting back deck includes two teak and metal loveseats with aqua blue cushions that bring a contemporary look to this lounge-worthy outdoor space. "They’re hip, young and urban in a very faded shade of aqua which allowed me to layer the red accents without overkill," says Brian.

Lovely Gold Glow

Adding unexpected drama and sleek modern style to the garage, three chandeliers with drum-shaped shades have a matte white outer finish and an antique gold finish inside that reflects light for a lovely glow. "They’re a surprise," says Brian. "They’re industrial on the outside and unexpectedly formal on the inside."

Chic Canopy Bed

A queen-sized canopy platform bed in the home’s other guest bedroom has a frame crafted from black powder-coated metal with corners highlighted by brass-plated metal tubing that adds a bit of shine. "The canopy draws the eye up, emphasizing that this room is tall instead of not super wide," says Brian.

Handsome Leather Seating

Two faux leather bar stools in the kitchen have a sturdy black metal frame with espresso faux leather upholstered seats with orange stitching. "They’re on the modern, masculine side," says Brain. "I wanted to add a couple of elements in this kitchen on the modern side and the floating shelves and these stools pull together that look I wanted."
