Rest and Relax

Rest and relax in this luxe master bedroom with modern simplicity and the latest in smart home technology, with a contrast of colors for a distinctive look with visual balance.

Time for Bed

The inviting queen trim-lined bed with a fully enclosed wood base and extra-tall upholstered headboard has clean, modern lines. On the ceiling above the bed sits a 52-inch, oil-rubbed-bronze ceiling fan that cools the space down on warm nights.

Focal-Point Wall

Designer Tiffany Brooks created a focal-point wall behind the bed by using charcoal-colored peel-and-stick reclaimed American Red Oak wood panels with a charred feel and matte look. The surrounding three walls and the ceiling of the bedroom were painted a light blue-gray color for contrast.

Double-Duty Nightstand

A shell-white curved-top console table on this side of the queen bed acts as a nightstand, with space on top for decorative accessories and a touch of greenery. The open bottom of the console table/nightstand provides storage space for a round ottoman that can be used for extra seating.

Curated Look

The curved-top console table/nightstand with round ottoman beneath adds a bit of playfulness to the master bedroom, and helps give the space a curated look.

Control Your Environment

The smart features in this Dallas, Texas, home make it easy to relax and unwind in the master bedroom. “You can control your environment from here with the smart features, from lights and music to the TV, when you’re lying in bed,” says project manager Scott Branscom.

Art Hung Organically

Assorted wall art adds a punch of personality to the master bedroom. “We did a lot of abstract artwork hung very organically, but it’s still very balanced because of the visual weight I placed between, on one side of the bed versus the other,” says designer Tiffany Brooks.

Two-Arm Sconces

A custom two-arm iron sconce was placed on each side of the bed to illuminate the space and help keep the tops of the nightstands free for decorative items and plants, or books for nighttime reading.

Cozy Comfort

An assortment of patterned and solid pillows and a luxe throw on top of the bed add cozy comfort to this master bedroom queen bed with waffle matelassé quilt.

Color and Pattern

The rich colors and assorted patterns on the pillows add visual interest to this otherwise clean and simple modern queen bed.

Bedside Beauty

On this side of the modern bed sits a shell-white nightstand with soft, self-closing drawer guides and ring pulls on front. The nightstand coordinates with the seven-drawer dresser located under the master bedroom’s unique TV that serves as artwork when not in use.

Quiet Moment

The distinctive wall art and curated decorative accessories on top of the nightstand create a quiet moment, a space-within-a-space design detail.

Let There Be Light

Long charcoal-colored drapes cover the tall windows that add natural light to the master bedroom. “We tried to match them so they line up with the skylights above,” says project manager Scott Branscom.

Solar-Powered Skylights

The premium no-leak solar-powered skylights bring fresh air and natural light into the master bedroom. Both the skylights and the blinds on the skylights can be controlled through a smartphone app.

Automated System

The skylights feature an automation system that helps create a healthy indoor climate. The advanced system monitors weather forecasts, indoor temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide levels, and uses this data to automatically open the skylights to bring in fresh air or adjust the blinds for energy efficiency.

Sit and Relax

Two modern metal accent chairs with a brushed stainless finish and upholstered with a woven jacquard fabric paired with a round ottoman create a welcoming seating area by the master bedroom’s tall windows.

Handwoven Rug

The master bedroom’s area rug adds softness over the white oak hardwood floor, and was handwoven in India with wool and viscose fibers that create a luxurious texture and sheen.

Handsome Dresser

A shell-white dresser offers stylish storage for folded sweaters and other bedroom essentials, with satin-brass hardware, self-closing drawer guides and cedar-lined bottom drawers. A beautiful and tough fiddle-leaf fig plant adds a touch of nature to the bedroom corner. A potted fern on an attractive faux shagreen tray on the dresser brings more greenery to the space.

TV Time

The premium 4K UHD TV above the master bedroom dresser has the unique ability to serve as artwork when not in use. The TV was designed to sit flush against the wall, so no unsightly cables show.

Private and Connected

With the master bedroom door open, this view shows the hallway that connects the master bedroom with the great room, kitchen and media room.

Special Space

This view from the hallway shows the sloped ceiling in the master bedroom that gives a grand feeling to the space, and how the contrast of colors adds visual interest.

Bed and Bath

This view shows the entrance to the adjoining master bathroom, a well-designed space that includes a freestanding tub and smart shower system. The master bathroom also connects the master bedroom to the spacious master closet, which has more smart features.

Light and Airy Space

This view from the master bath looking into the master bedroom shows the skylights and windows that bring fresh air inside the bedroom, and also flood the space with lots of appealing natural light.

Versatile Floor

The 7-inch white oak hardwood flooring used for the master bedroom and master bathroom offers a durable flooring surface with light tones that works with a wide variety of colors.

Sleep Soundly

The queen smart mattress in this restful master bedroom includes a combination of pressure-relieving comfort layers with a temperature-balancing sleep surface for a more soothing sleep. It also includes technology to track sleeping habits and adjustable firmness, comfort and support on both sides.
