Distinctive Look

This timeless style home and detached garage were given a distinctive look. “The exterior stands out from most of the houses here because it’s painted a really calming shade of blue, with navy-blue shutters, all white trim and a charcoal shingle roof,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Local Flavor

The overall color scheme for this impressive home that sits on a marsh was inspired by the beautiful coastal location of this popular South Carolina destination, with rich lime green, deep blue and brown-gray colors.

Multifunctional Space

An attractive circular driveway with gray-toned pavers and a graphite tone curb border leads from the street up to the house and detached garage, that was equipped with a pool table and other amenities. “The idea is to go ahead and open the detached garage and be able to just entertain in the front yard as much as you do in the backyard,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Safe and Secure

A walkway with pavers that have the feel of vintage cut stone off the driveway leads to the front porch of the home. A sign placed in the front yard lets everyone know this home is monitored 24/7 by a top-notch wireless security system.

Step This Way

The stairs with a coastal wood look and contrasting white hand rails lead up to the front porch with durable composite decking and the commanding front door of the home.

Prominent Entry

Two concrete planters with palms flank the handsome front door, with a dark walnut stain that offers contrast for the calm and cool blue exterior of the rest of the home and garage.

Touch of Warmth

The custom Mahogany Sapele front door adds warmth to the front entry of this impressive two-level home with numerous indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing and entertaining.

Enjoy the View

The front door also includes side lights that allow visitors to have a preview of the marsh and stunning views that can be enjoyed from the rear of this property. “The minute you’re approaching the porch, you’re already seeing the million-dollar view out back,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Attractive and Functional

The entry lock with latch and strike plate in flat black, with optional motorized touchscreen keypad lock, makes an attractive and functional addition to the front door of this home.

Beautiful Backdrop

The clean and classic front porch features composite decking that provides beauty and durability. The porch also includes six white rocking chairs that offer the perfect way to sit and enjoy the stunning location of this charming coastal retreat.

Comfortable Seating

A striped throw pillow offers comfort on one of the six white rocking chairs by the front door, with a potted palm adding a nice touch of greenery to the area.

Relax and Unwind

The six white indoor/outdoor wooden rocking chairs with sturdy wood composition offer classic porch seating. The weather resistant and easy-to-clean rocking chairs with armrests offer a wonderful way to sit back, relax and enjoy the neighborhood.

Natural Beauty

Live oak trees that twist all around the front and back of the property were incorporated into the landscape design with Palisades Zoysia, a medium-broad textured, high-density turf noted for its shade tolerance and low water-use requirements. “Hilton Head Island is a preservation community and they want to keep all the trees they can,” says build manager Scott Branscom. “These live oak trees with Spanish moss are very beautiful and definitely something you want to keep.”

Well-Chosen Plants

Since the placement of this house encourages low light with indirect sunlight throughout the front yard, a selection of plants were used that favor this type of environment. The plants were strategically placed to welcome the beauty and relaxed style of the Lowcountry.

Sturdy and Stylish

The sturdy white garage doors are made with insulated steel construction. The doors were designed to resemble the elegant wood designs of traditional carriage house doors, and their classic style helps enhance the architectural beauty of the property.

Illuminated Driveway

The exterior outdoor sconces in Coastal Burnished Steel on the garage illuminate the driveway and have a powder coated finish for durability.

Extra Detail

The detached garage includes a bay designed for parking a golf cart, which locals in the gated communities on Hilton Head Island use to get around the area. “They don’t really drive their car from house-to-house, they drive their golf cart,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Special Space

The bay in the garage for the golf cart is smaller than the other two bays, but the special space includes the same architectural details that makes the exterior of the garage and traditional style home so appealing.

Modern SUV

A modern mid-size SUV with the latest features is part of the exciting HGTV Dream Home 2020 prize package and sits parked in the driveway, ready to hit the road for fun weekend road trips.

Easy Rider

This look inside this modern SUV shows the heated steering wheel and perforated, heated and ventilated seats that make the ride on the road comfortable and easy. Rain-sensing windshield wipers and heated side mirrors are two of the other appealing features of this top-notch SUV.

Look Up

A power moonroof offers the chance to fully experience the natural beauty of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, when out exploring the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding this stunning coastal retreat.

Keep It Clean

Unload groceries and more from the SUV’s rear storage area, equipped with an easy-to-clean cargo tray with molded-in ribs and texture that helps protect the floor from accidental spills.

Cohesive Design Details

A side view of the garage shows how the architectural details of the structure coordinate and complement the design of the home, and how the navy-blue shutters pop against the calm blue painted home.

Welcome Home

This longer view shows how the landscaping’s curved lawn complements the gentle curves of the driveway that together create a warm and welcoming feel.

After Dark

During the evening hours, the well-designed home with a comprehensive lighting design comes to life and stands out against the natural beauty of the property.

User-Friendly Design

The user-friendly design of the property makes this coastal home appealing for hosting daytime get-togethers by the pool, or nighttime dinner parties in the dining room or screened-in porch.

Come Inside

The well-lighted spaces inside the home glow at night, and invite visitors inside to see the interiors of this spectacular coastal retreat.

Comprehensive Lighting Scheme

The comprehensive lighting scheme for this spectacular costal retreat was done for both function and the beauty of the property. “The lights give you just enough lighting for safety, but also add that nice warmth too,” says build manager Scott Branscom.

Multipurpose Lights

This view from the garage to the garden entrance on the side of the home shows how well-placed lights enhance the look of the property, highlight specific design details and make the walk to and from the garage safe and secure.

Step This Way

Stair-riser lights in a bronze finish were used for the stairs that lead up to the home's side door that opens to the laundry room and mudroom inside. “It’s a private entrance for the house just off the garage that allows you to just come in, take your shoes off, head out back and do any type of wet sport you want without having to come in and out of the actual more formal spaces in the house,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Gorgeous Glow

At night, the transom windows above the garage doors create a gorgeous glow from inside the flexible space that expands the usability of the front yard.

Welcoming Home

The comprehensive lighting design for this property works with the distinctive color scheme to create a home that feels welcoming and approachable, no matter the time of day.
