How to Make a Wooden Soap Dispenser Cover

The custom bath decor of your dreams is just a few steps away.

Soap dispensers come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Don’t spend another second looking for the perfect soap dispenser — DIY one with our easy steps.

Materials Needed

Build Sides

Mark, measure and cut six 4-inch pieces and six 3-inch pieces of barn wood. Create two 3-inch and two 4-inch sides by applying glue on one long side, stacking and securing with staples. Line the edge of a 4-inch side with glue, and place the 3-inch sides vertically on the glue. Once placed, line the ends of the 3-inch pieces with glue, and top off with the final 4-inch side. Place upright and clamp until dry.

Pro tip: Cutting pieces cleanly and accurately will aid in the gluing process.

Create Top

Wearing protective gloves, use cutters to cleanly trim a decorative metal sheet the dimensions of the top of your soap dispenser. Once down to size, remove the metal in the middle of the sheet, and bend back any jagged edges. Coat the sheet with metallic copper spray paint, and let dry. Drill a small hole in each corner for screws.

Stain and Attach Top

Once glue has dried, remove the clamp from the wooden frame and coat with your desired wood stain. Place the metal sheet on top and secure with a small screw in each corner. Slide over the soap dispenser, and place in your guest bathroom or powder room.
