HGTV Dream Home 2003: Mexico Beach
The atmosphere here is one of privacy and serenity, the only sounds you hear are those of nature -- the sound of the wind through the trees and the sound of waves lapping on the shore.House Planner Jack Thomasson
The 2,800 square foot home sits on a 10,000 acre preserve of coastal forest situated on the beautiful East Bay of the Florida Gulf of Mexico. The sprawling compound displays imaginative architecture that provides a relaxed, comfortable camp feel with contemporary qualities.
The main compound, consisting of the great room, master suite and bunk house, connects to an open summer kitchen with second story private office through a boardwalk that continues out to the boat house equipped with a fishing boat for nautical adventures. On the other side of the main compound exists a garden room and green house for those with a green thumb. A private deck and zen-like spa deck off of the master bedroom, as well as a gathering spot off of the great room complete the outdoor spaces that celebrate the natural beauty of this beach front oasis.
Windows with incredible outdoor views bring the serenity of the outdoors inside where surroundings are mimicked in the interior design. Panelled walls, exposed beams and hardwood floors contrast with a mix of soft blues and whites to give a light and airy feel that exemplifies cozy and casual luxury.
