DIY Shark Towel 01:31

After a dip in the pool or ocean, bundle your little one up in this towel.
Show: HGTV Happy

Though the kids could stay and play at the pool all day, eventually it's time get out, dry off and head home. With a standard bath towel, some felt and a sewing machine, you can give the kiddos something to look forward to when pool time is over.

Materials Needed

  • blue bath towel
  • white felt
  • black felt
  • ruler
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • pins
  • fabric hot glue

Create Shark Head

Begin by folding a bath towel in half widthwise and measuring eight inches from the crease on one side. Pin the sides together along the eight inches, and use a sewing machine to attach the two sides. Turn the towel inside out to hide the seam. From the same corner, measure six inches along the crease and sew from the six-inch mark to the eight-inch mark.

Cut and Add Teeth

Measure, mark and cut a two-inch-wide strip of white felt. Cut triangles out to achieve the look of a row of teeth. Center the row of teeth at the opening of the towel where the first eight-inch seam ends. Pin the teeth in place and use a sewing machine or needle and thread to secure.

Add Life With Eyes

The shark is taking shape but looking pretty dull. Bring this jersey jaws to life by gluing two white felt circles on each side of the head and two smaller black felt circles on top of the white. Drying off never seemed so scary (in a good way)!
