Kitchen + Dining: Groovy Mint Blue Galley Kitchen

This galley kitchen by designer Lucie Ayres looks totally retro thanks to mint blue cabinets and a cool black-and-white tiled floor. Because the space is smaller in scale, the designer added a custom built-in to the far side of the room, which gives the owners a spot for their desk, pantry and washer/dryer set.

Eclectic Galley Kitchen With Mint Blue Cabinets

Lucie Ayres' client asked to have a pantry, laundry room AND a desk in a small nook of the kitchen. She made it happen mainly by opening the walls between the former laundry room and kitchen and by installing space-saving retractable doors.

Black-and-White Tile Floors Elongate Galley Kitchen

Black-and-white tiled floors draw the eye from one side of the kitchen to the other. In turn, the narrow space seems longer and more open. The bright, mint blue cabinets accentuate this as well.

Farmhouse Sink With Spanish Tile Backsplash

A farmhouse sink brings a little country charm to this eclectic kitchen. At the same time, a built-in shelf gives the owners a sunny spot for their succulents and other plants.

Blue-and-Green Backsplash Adds Spanish Style to Kitchen

To keep with the Spanish style of the home, designer Lucie Ayres outfitted the kitchen with a patterned backsplash. Thanks to its blue hues, the feature pairs well with the mint-colored cabinets.

Eclectic Galley Kitchen Includes Custom Nook

On the far side of the room, a desk and stool create a nook where the owners can draft emails, make grocery lists and listen to their favorite albums by chvrches.

Pantry, Washer + Dryer Tucked Behind Custom Cabinets

Because this galley kitchen is smaller in scale, it was important to utilize every square inch. Thus, designer Lucie Ayres tucked her clients' washer and dryer behind some custom cabinets and gave them drawers for a little pantry area as well.

Black-and-White Tile Floors Extend Into Dining Room

Those black-and-white tiled floors continue into the dining room. Here, an arch nods to the home's Spanish style, while a modern table and two chairs give the owners an intimate spot for conversation.
